Q&A with Rhonnie O’Neal
1. Tell us a bit about you and your practice.
I am an intuitive tarot reader, astrologer, and creative spiritual practitioner based in Atlanta. With over a decade of experience studying astrology, tarot, and esoteric traditions, my work centers on helping clients navigate transitions, reclaim authenticity, and trust divine timing.
I’m also the co-host of an astrology and spirituality podcast called Jupiter Juice. We just celebrated our one-year anniversary, and I’m so happy with the community we’ve been building over there. The conversations are so fun and chill. It’s literally like having a “tea time” chat with your spiritual besties lol.
2. What moment or realization made astrology and/or tarot “click” for you in a real, lived way?
I’ve been studying astrology since I was a little kid because of my mom. She would always print out my horoscope at the beginning of each month lol. It’s something that was always ingrained in me, and it always held my interest. I was like a sponge, so I would always find myself studying every chance I could get.
I started collecting tarot and oracle decks in 2018 and began reading for friends the following year here and there. I knew that I really wanted to become involved in this practice after having an intense spiritual initiation right before my aunt passed away during my Saturn Return. It felt like my psychic gifts went into overdrive, and I wish I had someone to help guide me through it all. Because of that experience, I wanted to provide a helping hand to those in this community who may need help not only navigating life, but also different levels of their spiritual journey. My friends who are tarot readers and reiki practitioners were also guiding me to incorporate this practice into my offerings. I was definitely divinely guided here, mainly because I grew up only wanting to be involved in the music industry, but my interests have evolved over time.
3. What’s something most people misunderstand about astrology and/or tarot that you’re always gently correcting?
I really don’t like when people say that astrology is a religion. These transits will occur whether you believe in them or not. It’s not a practice where you worship some sort of deity. It’s a tool that helps people navigate their psyche and the world around them.
4. Tell us your thoughts on the astrology of 2026 and how it’s likely showing up in people’s everyday lives right now.
The astrology of 2026 is kind of unpredictable. A lot of the planets are starting over in the astrological cycle, and it will be interesting to see how these transits play out today versus how they did back in the 1700s or 1800s. The astrology this year is definitely giving revolution and rebellion. With the nodes shifting to the Aquarius/Leo axis, the focus will definitely be on shedding whatever is keeping you from being your most confident and authentic self so you can integrate your talents into society while still holding on to your authenticity and your gifts.
5. What’s a recurring life theme you see in your readings right now (love, career pivots, endings, rebirth, boundaries), and how do you help people work with it instead of resisting it?
A lot of people I’ve been reading for have been asking for insight when it comes to their purpose. A lot of people feel stuck right now, or they may find their interests changing. Most of it does have to do with world events affecting how they move through life. I’ve definitely been encouraging people to find their joy. Not something manufactured that they assume would be accepted by society, but something that is their true driving force. I always encourage them to lead from their heart space, and they will find what they are looking for.
6. When someone comes to you feeling stuck, what part of the chart do you look at first and why? If you do tarot or another practice, tell us about your process for this.
If someone comes to me feeling stuck, I take a look at the houses related to the theme they’re inquiring about. First, I look at how their natal chart presents, and then I look at the transits, because feeling stuck is often temporary energy. For example, if someone feels stuck when it comes to finding a career that not only caters to their interests but also provides stability, I would look at the 10th house/Midheaven, 6th house, and 2nd house. That’s just the start. Then I look at what transits could be affecting these houses, and maybe even the condition of their natal and transiting Neptune. I mean, it’s all layered and connected to each individual in a unique way.
When it comes to tarot, it’s all in the cards. Between spirit and the cards that come out on the table is where the answer lies. I surrender control in that aspect.
7. When someone is trying to understand their love life more deeply, where do you guide them to look first? What parts of the chart, energy, or inner patterns tend to reveal the most?
Well, first, before looking at any chart, they need to start by doing some shadow work and asking themselves what they truly want in love and what they need. Then I take a look at the 5th house (what romance looks like to you), the 7th house (your nature when it comes to partnerships), and the 8th house (how your connections transform you). I also take a look at the condition of the Moon, Venus, and Mercury placements.
8. When someone is trying to understand their career life or work/ purpose more deeply, where do you guide them to look first? What parts of the chart, energy, or inner patterns tend to reveal the most?
When someone is trying to understand their career life or purpose more deeply, I usually start by looking at the 10th house and Midheaven, along with the 6th and 2nd houses, to see how their talents, daily work, and values connect. I also pay attention to current transits, because sometimes feeling lost around purpose is just a temporary phase. Beyond the chart, I always encourage people to pay attention to what naturally brings them joy and fulfillment, because that’s usually where the real clues are.
9. What’s one small but meaningful practice or reflection you’d recommend people try based on their natal chart or reading?
No matter the natal chart or reading, I always encourage journaling and meditation. Getting to know yourself through those practices is just as important as receiving guidance through a reading. You can receive all the answers, but you still need to integrate and reflect on the insights you’ve received.
10. What are your favorite decks + resources that you think people should know about?
Some of my favorite decks are the Light Seer’s Tarot deck by Chris-Anne and the Angel Numbers Oracle deck by The Pulp Girls. I really resonate with both of them, and I use them every single day, even for my own personal readings.
As far as other resources, I’d say the Chani app is really cool if you want something guided. But if you don’t want to pay for anything and you’re just looking for insight, AstroSeek is a solid tool for learning more about astrology and exploring different placements and techniques.
And of course, watching the Jupiter Juice podcast is a great resource too! It gives a very down-to-earth perspective on transits, spirituality, pop culture, and how all of it connects to everyday life.
